Evidently it’s something of a busy week for Verizon Wireless, with the American telecommunications heavyweight rolling out a steady procession of new mobile, computing and multimedia devices. First on the card, and with designs on your retail saliva glands, is the new Nokia Shade.
Cheap and cheerful. \'Nuff said. Image: Nokia/Verizon.
The Nokia 2705 Shade is a lightweight, compact and colourful flip-style handset that comes equipped with a generous screen (one of the largest on any of Verizon’s small phones), an optional 1.3 mega pixel camera, and support for colour customisation via Xpress-on interchangeable covers.
Other features and services include access to mobile Web, Bluetooth connectivity, VZ Navigator, USB 2.0, up to 300 minutes of talk time, and text, picture and voice messaging.
While the shade clearly sits comfortably with providing the basics as opposed to walking the cutting-edge of handset design and capability, Verizon and Nokia are matching the basic feature set by offering the phone up for a similarly basic price.
Moreover, the Nokia 2705 Shade will be available online from October 06 through the official Verizon Wireless Web site for $29.99 USD along with a two-year service contract.
