Looking to further expand the reach of its videogame download service, Sony Computer Entertainment has enriched its relationship with leading online retailer Amazon.com to provide gamers with access to downloadable PlayStation Network (PSN) content.

The deal, which was announced on Wednesday, will see Amazon eventually distributing some 200 videogame downloads by selling software-specific tokens that can be redeemed directly through the PlayStation Network.
Initial PSN content available via Amazon will include some 21 PlayStation 3 titles, 25 PlayStation Portable titles, and 19 original PlayStation titles – all of which are first-party Sony releases such as Flower, WipEout HD, and PixelJunk Monsters.
Download customers are receiving further incentive from Amazon thanks to the retailer providing $9.99 USD of credit towards PSN purchases with every sale of the 120GB PlayStation 3 console, and $15.99 USD of credit with every sale of a PlayStation Portable (PSP-3000). The incentive promotion is due to end on October 17.
Clearly keen to nurture deals with other existing distribution partners, Sony senior vice president and PlayStation Network boss Peter Dille commented that Sony is willing to “have a similar discussion with anyone else currently selling PlayStation products.”
