Specifically, the computer heavyweight has this week announced the upcoming closure of its Winston-Salem production facility in North Carolina, which will result in the cleaving of some 905 jobs from Dell’s international workforce of approximately 76,500.
According to Texas-based Dell, the Winston-Salem plant will be officially shuttered by the end of January, 2010, with around 600 of the 905 job losses due to be enforced by November.
Dell describes its decision to close the facility as “part of an ongoing initiative to enhance the long-term value it delivers to customers by simplifying operations and improving efficiency.”
The Winston-Salem facility is currently tasked with producing business-based desktop computer hardware for Dell. Notably, it celebrated four years of operation earlier this week.
