Already criticised for its persistently expensive memory solutions in the videogame industry, Microsoft’s next system update for the Xbox 360 home console is likely to annoy yet more of the company’s established user base.
Yet more reason to shift platforms? Image: Microsoft.
Specifically, Microsoft’s online guru Major Nelson has revealed that the upcoming 360 update will not only deliver fresh services such as hugely popular social networks Facebook and Twitter, but will also create a blockade against all “unauthorized” Memory Units.
This essentially means those users choosing to avoid official (and more expensive) ways to save/backup their game progress and profile information on regular memory card alternatives, will now be forced to abandon their frugality in favour of protecting and preserving data to platforms green-flagged by Redmond-based Microsoft.
Those gamers presently seething at the prospect of being strong-armed into towing Microsoft’s line can – once they’ve calmed sufficiently – peruse a list of licensed accessories by visiting the official Xbox.com online portal.
