Without reducing the ‘reassuringly expensive’ price tag that accompanies the majority of its hardware, Apple Inc. has this week announced an updated version of its slightly more recession-friendly 13.3-inch MacBook computer.

Officially revealed by Cupertino-based Apple on Tuesday, the revamped MacBook retains its existing white polycarbonate covering but notably shifts forward in an aesthetic sense by adopting the unibody chassis construction widely applied throughout Apple’s other portable systems.
With the MacBook’s asking price stable at $999 USD, upgraded specifications include LED backlighting, a 2.26GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor (up from 2.13GHz), 2GBs of expandable 1066MHz RAM (up from 1GB of 667MHz), an NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics solution, and a spacious 250GB hard disk drive that can be increased up to 500GBs.
Other slight twists and tweaks see the new MacBook weighing in at 4.7 pounds, which is a tad lighter than its 5.0 pound predecessor, and up to seven hours of single-charge battery life, which is a boost of two hours.
Sadly, however, it’s not all good news for prospective MacBook buyers, with Apple’s latest revamp dropping the previous system’s FireWire 400 port.
If you’re a disgruntled PC user looking to make the leap to an Apple, you’ll be glad to learn that the upgraded 13.3-inch MacBook is available for purchase immediately.
