Regardless of any attempts to dodge hardware categorisation by device manufacturer Litl, its new Litl Easel “web computer” is a pretty standard Netbook in our eyes, and not an especially impressive one at that.

As ugly as sin thanks to its unappealing keyboard and blandly minimalist chassis design, the Litl Easel seems to similarly fall flat following close scrutiny of its credentials as a Netbook – sorry – Web computer.
While taking a modest step away from current Netbooks with its slightly more oomph-worthy 1.86GHz Intel Atom processor, the Litl Easel then takes two steps back due to a surprisingly low data storage ceiling of just 2GBs (that’s a paltry TWO gigabytes).
Other contributing features available with the Litl Easel include 1GB of RAM, a 12.1-inch display screen (1200 x 800), an integrated Web camera, Wi-Fi connectivity (802.11b/g), an HDMI port, USB port, infrared support for a Litl remote control, and a rechargeable 2600 MAh battery.
The Litl Easel also comes with a home page interface that presents information in stacks of cards – where blue cards are ‘permanent’ cards for the card catalogue, family and friends, and settings, while white cards are ‘web cards’ shown in an open-source Mozilla browser, and black cards are ‘channel’ cards for delivering widgets.
Pricing for the Litl Easel has not yet been divulged, but it will likely need to range between $350 USD and $450 USD if the portable stands any chance of enjoying elbowroom alongside other, more capable, mobile computing solutions.
