While some faithful Nintendo fans might have been a little worried to learn that the new DSi LL handheld is only being released in Japan this coming November 21, the gaming giant has moved quickly to reveal that other regions around the world will also be receiving the enlarged console.

Specifically, Nintendo has confirmed that the revamped DSi LL and its twin 4.25-inch screens will hit stores in Europe during the first quarter of 2010 – although it will be known in European territories as the DSi XL.
“Nintendo today confirms that a new Nintendo DSi XL console is launching in Europe in the first quarter of 2010,” the company said in an official statement.
“The retail price of the Nintendo DSi XL is expected to be higher than that of the Nintendo DSi,” it added. “Further details will be released soon.”
The DSi XL (or LL) arrives as the fourth DS iteration since the handheld first launched in the latter part of 2004, beyond its enlarged display screens, it will come equipped with a more comfortable stylus pointer and also improved battery performance.
Prospective DS buyers in the United States should choke back bouts of hyperventilation at this point, because the DSi XL will also be arriving in North America during next year’s first quarter.
