Fan of the National Basketball Association (NBA) but can’t find the time to faithfully follow your favourite team because you’re always on the move? Relax, dear reader, because your passion for televised hoops is about to resume – albeit on a markedly smaller display screen.

Moreover, the NBA has this week upgraded its mobile content delivery service from highlights-only to full live games, a move that arrives only a few days after the opening round of the 2009/2010 season, which officially tipped-off on Tuesday.
In order to receive live NBA coverage, mobile basketball fans will need to stump up a modest $40 USD. And, in return for that dollar outlay, users will be able to view more than 40 live NBA games every week.
Accompanying points of appeal include an in-game stat stream, a digital video recording feature that allows the pausing and rewinding of game action, and even access to two days of archived NBA footage.
The expanded NBA service arrives after a similar live content service for Major League Baseball (MLB) was rolled out for on-the-go iPhone owners during the summer.
Other existing mobile services already providing live sports across North America include those covering the NFL (National Football League) and the NHL (National Hockey League).
Initially set for availability through multimedia handsets offered by U.S. telecommunications giants AT&T, T-Mobile USA, and Verizon Wireless, the NBA’s live coverage will also launch on RIM’s BlackBerry smartphones before the close 2009.
