Following on from Sony’s decision to recall some 60,000 potentially faulty VAIO power bricks, Finnish mobile phone titan Nokia has announced a significantly more serious recall involving around 14 million AC charge packs.

According to Espoo-based Nokia, the plastic cover fitted to the plug-in charge unit in question could loosen to the point where internal wiring becomes exposed – placing users at risk of possible electric shock.
While Nokia has been keen to note that it has, as yet, received no reports of injuries or accidents in relation to the charger, if your Nokia handset is supported by the AC-3E, AC-3U or AC-4U unit then you should visit the following link for information on returning it.
The problematic chargers were produced by China-based battery manufacturer BYD Co. between June 2009 and October 2009. Nokia has said it will replace any recalled charger without the user incurring any extra cost.
