Xceedium, who provides access control and auditing solutions to the enterprise, announced on Tuesday that the newest version of GateKeeper now supports virtualized and mainframe environments. In addition to the new product offering, they have signed a deal with Raytheon to resell GateKeeper with their own SureView security offerings.

In short, GateKeeper can track and restrict access on many levels. It can also produce expansive auditing and logging records including actual recordings of the users screen. The restrictive nature of GateKeeper means that you can use a granular level of access for better control.
In version 5, GateKeeper adds the ability to monitor and control mainframe and virtual environments. The release comes as an enhancement requested by customers, who enjoy the control on a normal network setting, but needed better coverage in virtual areas. However, the ability to also hook into legacy components of IT’s infrastructure will also be a big help.
As mentioned, Xceedium also inked a deal with Raytheon that will allow them to offer GateKeeper through Raytheon’s government channels alongside their own SureView solution. SureView is Raytheon’s visibility and control offering that resides on the endpoint. It looks at user policy violations and helps mitigate insider threats. Adding GateKeeper to this will expand the overall layer of coverage.
Likely, Raytheon will use GateKeeper’s compartmentalized access controls, and command restrictions as a way to better tag insider risks.
GateKeeper Version 5 for mainframes and virtualized environments is available in November, and support for VMWare will be available in Q4. More information is here.
