Having last week warned expectant pre-order consumers that its new Nook electronic book reader might not be delivered in time for Christmas, U.S bookselling giant Barnes & Noble has now moved to honour those pre-orders by delaying the device’s official arrival at retail.

Speaking with news agency Reuters, a spokeswoman for Barnes & Noble further explained that a limited supply of the dual-screened eBook reader will now hit its “highest-volume stores” on December 07 as opposed to the scheduled November 30 limited reveal.
With Barnes & Noble offering that production for the Nook has fallen short of unexpectedly high consumer demand, it claims the slight retail delay will enable it to divert units to pre-order customers who advance purchased their electronic reader ahead of November 20.
Sector rival Sony Corp. has also announced supply and demand issues connected to the new ‘Daily Edition’ of its Reader platform, all of which ties in with analyst projections suggesting electronic book readers could potentially be an extremely popular purchase this holiday season.
