Both Barnes & Noble and Sony Corp. may well be struggling to meet consumer demand for their respective Nook and Reader ‘Daily Edition’ eBook devices, but online retailer Amazon is having no such problem with the various iterations of its trend-setting Kindle.

More pointedly, Seattle-based Amazon has good reason to be happy with the continuing traction attributed to its Kindle, not least because the popular electronic book reader enjoyed its best ever month of sales in November.
According to Amazon, the Kindle is the most wished for, most often gifted, and the most purchased product across the online retailer’s entire product catalogue.
“Kindle is a great gift for anyone who loves to read and it’s flying off the shelves faster than any other product Amazon sells,” trumpeted Ian Freed, vice president of Amazon’s Kindle division.
“We’re seeing lots of people buying from one to a handful of Kindles as gifts for friends or family, as well as many businesses and other organizations buying Kindles in large quantities for their employees or customers,” he added.
For those who’ve not yet had the chance to familiarise themselves with the ongoing progress of the eBook market – and particularly the Kindle – Amazon’s platform runs on Whispernet technology and enables users to wirelessly download a multitude of books, magazines, newspapers and personal documents to be viewed on a high-resolution 6-inch E-Ink display.
