Available as of December 07 and targeting business professionals, the eXpo from LG Electronics is set to arrive in the United States as the very first handset equipped with a 1GHz processor while supported by AT&T’s high-speed HSPA 7.2 Mbps network technology.
And, beyond that initial noteworthy bullet point, the eXpo also pushes its enterprise credentials thanks to being the first smartphone in the U.S. to deliver an optional onboard pico projector, which snaps onto the rear of the device and enables users to deliver business presentations, slideshows and online videos.
Other aspects contributing to the eXpo include the Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system, a 3.2-inch display with touch-screen capabilities, a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard, a 5.0 mega pixel camera (with auto flash), Smart Sensor fingerprint recognition, and up to 16GBs of removable microSD memory support.
The eXpo will retail for $200 USD after a $100 USD mail-in rebate and an agreed two-year service deal. The accompanying LG Mobile Projector will arrive soon after for a price of $180 USD.
AT&T has said it plans to roll out HSPA 7.2 in 25 of the nation’s 30 largest markets by the close of 2010, and reach around 90 percent of its existing 3G footprint by the end of 2011.
Destinations presently expected to receive support at the outset include Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles and Miami, all of which should have HSPA 7.2 by the end of 2009.
