Described as “the world’s thinnest 13-inch commercial client” computer, Dell has this week whipped the covers off its new Latitude 13, which is more readily equipped than your standard Netbook, but perhaps falls a little short of a more capable and muscular notebook.

As the brand label suggests, Dell’s latest Latitude comes with a 13.3-inch display screen, while other contributing aspects include a weight of just 1.5kg (approx. 3.3lbs), a full-sized keyboard, Intel ultra low voltage processing technology, Windows 7 or Windows XP, and a traditional hard disk drive (HDD).
Optional additions include high-speed WWAN, solid-state storage (SSD) up to a ceiling of 64GBs, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity (802.11b/g/n), an integrated Web camera, and also an external Blu-ray drive for high-definition multimedia playback.
While concrete price points are not yet fixed, indications suggest that the Latitude 13 is expected to come in below $1,000 when Dell starts taking pre-orders in the coming few weeks.
