Reinforcing the market strength of the all-conquering ASUS Eee PC line, the recently announced Eee ‘Monitor’ all-in-one desktop solution has been officially re-branded as the Eee ‘Top’ and is now open for pre-orders ahead of its retail launch this coming November.

Given its full, and not nearly as catchy, brand name, the new ‘Eee ETP 1602-WT-X0010’ touch-screen desktop continues to fly the ASUS flag of sleek and respectable hardware coupled with an attractive and pocket-friendly price tag.

Specifically, the Eee Top offers up a 15.6-inch touch-sensitive display screen, a solid 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor, Intel’s 945GSE + ICH7M chipset, 1GB of RAM (DDR2 667), and a 160GB hard disk drive (HDD), all of which prospective ASUS fans can secure in return for a little less than £400 GBP.

Set for availability in aesthetic choices of either black or white, the Eee Top also comes complete with the Windows XP Home operating system, Wi-Fi (802.11b/g/n) connectivity, an integrated 1.3 mega pixel Web camera, and 128MBs of shared graphics.

Other features include a wired keyboard and mouse, a digital array microphone, a 4-in-1 card reader, two side and four rear USB ports, a Gigabit LAN port, 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet, and a two-year warranty.

With the Eee PC saturating the ever-expanding Netbook market, there’s a case to be made that the Eee Top (and also the diminutive Eee Box) could prompt a host of similar budget desktop solutions from Taiwan’s ASUSTeK as well as other major players such as Dell, MSI, Samsung and Toshiba.
