If you want to become one of the first tech-loving consumers to put version 5.0 of Google Android through its paces, you should perhaps consider purchasing an ASUS computer in the coming months.

More pointedly, a TechRadar report is claiming the close relationship Google shares with the Taiwanese industry giant will likely result in the upcoming ‘Jelly Bean’ variant of Android landing first on ASUS-branded hardware.

“ASUS is very close to Google, so once they have Android 5.0 I think there will be a high possibility that we will be the first wave to offer the Jelly Bean update,” outlined ASUS corporate vice president Benson Lin in the exclusive report.

The Jelly Bean update is expected to arrive during the second quarter of 2012, which may prove something of an annoyance to those device manufacturers who have yet to upgrade their smartphone and tablet platforms to support Ice Cream Sandwich.

In related news, a report at The Verge cites “a reliable source” in positing that Google’s food-based naming trend looks set to continue, with Key Lime Pie apparently already penciled in to arrive some time after Jelly Bean.

Google has made no official comment regarding either update.
