Telecommunications heavyweight AT&T has this week announced plans to unveil super speedy LTE (Long Term Evolution) networks in five major cities across its home market of the United States.
Customers looking forward to the prospect of much improved mobile performance should be especially giddy if they currently reside in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio.
Once network connectivity has been successfully bedded-in throughout the aforementioned locations, AT&T will then begin rolling out the service to a further 10 cities across the United States.
Rival telecommunications provider Verizon Wireless currently leads the way where Long Term Evolution networking is concerned, having introduced the service to some 38 states back in December of 2010.
By way of providing customers with added incentive to jump aboard the rumbling LTE bandwagon, AT&T has also said it plans to launch around 20 4G-enabled mobile devices (suiting both LTE and HSPA+) before the end of 2011.
