If Acer’s latest Ultrabook system is anything to go by, it won’t be too long before it becomes nigh on impossible to see a portable computer when viewing its physical profile.

Moreover, the computer manufacturer describes its new Acer Aspire S3 as the world’s thinnest notebook, thanks to a profile ‘thickness’ of just 13mm, which is approximately 0.51 inches.

Weighing in at just 1.4kg, the pretty Silver Aluminium alloy Aspire S3 doesn’t just appeal from an aesthetic perspective. Indeed, it comes complete with a 13.3-inch LED backlit display (1366x768), a choice of Intel’s second-gen Core processors (i3 or i5), 4GBs of RAM, and a 320GB hard drive.

Other fixtures and fittings include Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit), an integrated 1.3 mega-pixel web camera, Bluetooth 4.0+HSR connectivity, USB 2.0 ports, and a super lightweight 3280 mAh battery.

Multimedia tasks are supported via Intel’s HD Graphics 3000, Dolby Home Theater v4 cinema surround sound, HDMI out and HDCP for transferring 1080p HD content to a connected monitor, projector or television.

The system also boasts Acer’s Instant On and Instant Connect platforms. The former enables the computer to wake fully from sleep in as little as 1.5 seconds, and 6.0 seconds when waking from hibernation. The latter allows for Internet access in 2.5 seconds after waking from a sleeping state.

Initially announced during the IFA tech conference in Berlin back in September, the Acer Aspire S3 comes with a starting price of 799 Euro.
