After seeing its Call of Duty franchise rack up billions of dollars through recent franchise entrants Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops, third-party publisher Activision is reportedly on the cusp of announcing its next major militarily-authentic heavyweight.
That’s according to comments made by established Modern Warfare voice actor Craig Fairbrass, who this week dropped a sizeable hint that could indicate the imminent unveiling of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
“I did Call of Duty: Modern Warfare as Gaz and then I did Ghost in Modern Warfare 2, which has become one of the more iconic figures in the history of computer games, which is great,” Fairbrass said during a talkSPORT interview.
“And I’ve just been out in LA doing something that’s going to be announced in May,” he added. “I’ve just been out there doing some bits and pieces, and one is to do with… I can’t say too much.”
Given the record-breaking momentum of Activision’s juggernaut franchise, any official announcement regarding Modern Warfare 3 is hardly likely to arrive as much of a surprise.
It’s also worth noting that Web whispers have claimed the third instalment in the Modern Warfare series is being developed by series heavyweight Infinity Ward along with FPS specialist Raven Software (Singularity) and newly formed studio Sledgehammer Games.
Other related rumours suggest the action offered by Modern Warfare 3 will predate that of prior games and will have Ghost as its central protagonist, which is possibly why Fairbrass recently spent January and February working with Activision at its California-based HQ.
