The Kindle eBook experience. You can have it through the Kindle device itself, you can have it on your mobile phone handset, and you can have it direct on your PC. Yet, seemingly not content with already expansive coverage, the good folks at Amazon have now brought Kindle to the Apple Mac.

The new “Kindle for Mac” platform arrives as a free application that gives Mac owners easy access to the online Kindle Store, which currently offers more than 450,000 books in the U.S. alone – including 102 of the 111 titles presently on the New York Times Bestsellers list.

“Kindle for Mac is the perfect companion application for customers who own a Kindle or Kindle DX,” trumpeted Jay Marine, director of Amazon Kindle. “For those customers around the world who don’t yet have a Kindle, Kindle for Mac is a great way to instantly access and read the most popular new releases as well as their old favourites.”

Features of the new Mac-slanted experience include Whispersync technology, which automatically saves and synchronises bookmarks and last page read across devices, 10 different font sizes and the adjustment of words per line, notes and highlights marked on Kindle, Kindle DX and Kindle for iPhone, and full colour reading.

Other in-bound features outlined by Amazon include full text search and the ability to create and edit notes and highlights.

The Kindle for Mac application can be downloaded for free by simply clicking here.
