If version 3.0 of Android was designed specifically for tablet computers, it’s highly likely that the soon-to-be-released version 3.2 update will further hone Google’s attuned operating system.

Described by Google as “an incremental release,” Android version 3.2 will deliver “several new capabilities for users and developers,” including changes to the Application Programming Interface (API) that will boost it to level 13.

Other added or tweaked features include screen-size optimisations allowing developers to scale around the current 10.1-inch standard, a new “zoom-to-fill” screen compatibility mode, and direct media file loading from microSD.

If you’re a developer looking to get your teeth into Android v3.2, the update’s official software development kit (SDK) can be downloaded now by clicking this direct link.

Expected to flood the market via new tablet platforms in the coming months, Android 3.2 is already trickling through on Motorola’s existing Xoom and should also soon be making its entrance on platform heavyweights such as the Samsung’s Galaxy Tab and Acer’s Iconia Tab.
