For many tech consumers – this writer included – shifting computer allegiance from PC to Mac is likely a long-desired move repeatedly stymied by a rather substantial accompanying price leap.

However, money and security systems proved no obstacle whatsoever for a group of opportunistically light-fingered Mac fans in New Jersey who recently grabbed a truckload of Apple devices while conveniently sidestepping that whole annoying issue of payment.

More pointedly, police in the New Jersey township of Evesham are currently keen to reprimand several technology thieves that carried out a daring ‘smash and grab’ raid on an official Apple Store in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

The store in question, located within the Promenade at Sagemore Shopping Center along Route 73, was hit by a group of quick-acting hardware liberators, who lobbed a sizable rock through the shop window before quickly gathering up 23 Macbook Pro notebooks, 14 iPhone handsets, and nine iPod Touch devices.

With the entire robbery captured by in-store surveillance cameras, the police have said they are on the hunt for a total of five black males, one of whom was clearly seen to be carrying a handgun during the incident.

Police officials connected to the investigation have said two of the suspects were dressed in black sweat tops, while a third was wearing a red vest and a lightly coloured shirt with long sleeves.
