While Apple’s brand reputation has been left somewhat tarnished by recent events associated with the “Antennagate” fiasco, its latest fiscal figures reflect nothing but thundering market momentum.

More pointedly, the gadget giant has posted record revenues of $15.7 billion USD during the latest quarter, which is a 61 percent year-on-year improvement that equates to net profit of $3.25 billion USD.

Apple was also keen to point out that it witnessed a 33 percent year-on-year sales boost across its line of Mac computers, selling some 3.47 million units during the quarter – which ended on June 26. Wall Street had predicted unit sales of 3.2 million.

The iPad tablet, which launched in April of 2010, has thus far racked up 3.27 million sales, accounting for $2.17 billion USD or 14 percent of Apple’s quarterly revenue stream.

“Revenues were driven primarily by the iPad, with strong sales of iPhone and Mac,” enthused Peter Oppenheimer, Apple CFO, during an earnings call with Wall Street analysts on Tuesday.

Sales of the iPhone have dipped somewhat when compared to the first quarter, falling from 8.75 million units to 8.4 million units. However, it’s worth noting that, while a four percent quarterly dip, the iPhone’s latest sales figures are still 61 percent stronger than during the same period last year.

In terms of extending its international reach, sales of Apple devices have risen by 66 percent across Europe and rocketed by 160 percent throughout the Asia-Pacific region.

Despite all the good news, Apple is expecting to lose around $175 million USD in fulfilling its promise to provide all iPhone 4 users with a free protective case that will solve the smartphone’s problematic antenna issues.
