The summer has barely started and already Apple is readying its annual back-to-school promotion. Though, to be fair, the prospect of snagging a free iPod Touch is certain to take the edge off yet another seemingly endless term of droning teachers, knuckle-dragging bullies and thoroughly uninspired curriculum content.
More pointedly, Apple is offering up a free iPod Touch to any student or teacher prepared to splash the cash for a brand new Mac computer system. Specifically, the purchase of a Mac and an accompanying iPod Touch will see customers qualifying for an online rebate of $229 USD, which equates to the price of an 8GB model of Apple’s non-telephonic iPhone.
However, before the scheming and the pennywise rush off to abuse the deal while gleefully rubbing their hands together, it’s worth noting that the Mac Mini’s relatively low price point sees it excluded from the offer, as are any and all refurbished Apple Mac computers.
Students and teachers willing to take Apple’s bait and keen on receiving an iPod Touch while upgrading their existing Mac or making the switch from PC, should ensure they purchase before September 08 and get their rebate claims in for October 08.
And, if you’re interested in Apple’s offer but are unsure of where to focus your cash, then the Cupertino-based gadget titan has this week (conveniently) refreshed its entry-level MacBook.
The iconic little computer now comes with an improved Intel Core 2 Duo processor that pushes 2.13GHz as opposed to 2.0GHz, increased HDD storage that has risen from 120GB to 160GB, and 2GBs of DDR2 SDRAM running 800MHz rather than 667MHz.
And the price for said MacBook? A veritable steal at $999 USD.
