Here’s a slice of Apple news that fires a volley across Microsoft’s currently untested retail bows: With Microsoft expected to launch its very first walk-in store later this week in Scottsdale, Arizona, core market rival Apple has posted its highest ever quarterly revenue figures.
Specifically, Apple’s year-on-year performance figures reveal its revenue flow increased by almost nine percent, which equates to a substantial dollar boost of $1.87 billion USD from $1.72 USD billion.
Apple fan site Apple Insider suggests the quarterly revenue improvement is perhaps down to the computer and gadget specialist opening the doors of 26 new retail locations around the world in the last year, taking its total to number of official Apple Stores to a whopping 273.
Bolstering that claim, Apple Stores have apparently served some 46 million customers – an increase of around 3.3 million when compared with the same period in 2008 – with average per store revenue reported to be up by 20 percent to $7.1 million USD.
Further appeal attached to Apple’s international stores includes the refurbishment of 72 existing outlets and the imminent opening of two new destinations in France and another in Manhattan’s Upper West Side.
