According to Apple, customer response to the iPad 3 has been off the charts, and due to this, the promises made to those who pre-ordered the device that it would arrive on launch day have been retracted.
Those who pre-ordered the newest iPad were told that they would arrive on launch day, March 16. However, the overwhelming demand for Apple’s latest toy has forced a delay. As things stand now, pre-orders through Apple’s online store will ship on March 19 in the U.S. and March 22 in Australia.
Moreover, orders in France, Japan, Germany, Switzerland, and the U.K., are delayed by 2-3 weeks, Apple explained. In Hong Kong, the iPad is simply listed as unavailable, while AT&T and Verizon are taking names and placing them on a waiting list.
As mentioned, the new iPad, with its Retina display, A5X chip & quad-core graphics, 5-megapixel iSight camera, and 1080p HD video, will be available in black or white on Friday, March 16, at Apple stores nationwide with a cost of $499 USD for Wi-Fi and $629 USD for 4G.
If you don’t have to have the latest and greatest, the iPad 2 is down to $399 USD.
