Bethesda's epic Skyrim destroys the VGA competition

If you’re new to the videogame scene and are perhaps a little lost when it comes to choosing high-quality software, the goodly folks at Spike TV have just offered up a handy guide courtesy of their annual game awards (VGAs).
If you’re looking for bleeding-edge heavyweights, Bethesda’s sprawling RPG epic The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim should be first on the list thanks to it scooping the coveted VGA Game of the Year award and Best RPG—while Besthesda was named Studio of the Year.
If darkly themed superhero shenanigans are more your style, Batman: Arkham Asylum is worth a look after securing awards for Best Action Adventure Game, Best Xbox Game, and Best Character (for The Joker).
Other notable winners saw action spectacular Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception snaffle the award for Best PS3 Game and Best Graphics, while The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword took Best Wii Game and Best Motion Game, and FPS puzzler Portal 2 took Best Multiplayer Game and Best PC Game.
Beyond handing out a gamut of shiny gongs, this year’s VGA awards also showcased a number of trailers for major upcoming releases, including BioShock Infinite, Mass Effect 3, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, Rainbow 6: Patriots, and The Last of Us.
