BioWare tweet reveals Dragon Age III is crewing up

But will it be a(nother) rushed rehash? Image: BioWare.

Following on from the incremental series improvements introduced by Dragon Age II, acclaimed Canadian videogame developer BioWare has this week revealed that it’s already in the process of crafting the next episode of its role-playing epic.

More pointedly, BioWare senior director Alistair McNally has offered up fairly concrete confirmation regarding the game’s existence after he posted this tweet to micro-blogging site Twitter:

“I’m looking for exceptional environment artists to join me at #BioWare Edmonton, Canada, to work on #DragonAge3 #gamejobs #jobs #3D #artists.”

Evidently, third-party publisher Electronic Arts (EA) was suitably pleased with the critical and commercial success of Dragon Age II, which itself only launched towards the tail end of 2010, and has given BioWare the official green light to helm the third instalment.

Although many Dragon Age fans are welcoming the prospect of yet more magic-infused hacking and slashing across fantastical lands, some fear the franchise is being rushed and isn’t afforded the same love and affection as fellow BioWare property Mass Effect.

Specifically, Mass Effect’s episodes remain in the development process for considerably longer than those attributed to Dragon Age—and the overall quality certainly reflects that upon release.

For example, two years separated Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2, while Dragon Age II hit stores less than year after the 2009 original.
