Biz Stone: Twitter is NOT for sale

Following a wave of nonsense rumour suggesting gadget and technology giant Apple Inc. is in the process of acquiring Twitter for $700 million USD, one of the micro-blogging service’s founders has stepped from the shadows with a concrete denial.
More pointedly, during a Wednesday appearance on ABC’s The View, Twitter co-founder Biz Stone moved quickly to quash emerging takeover speculation regarding the hugely popular social network when the word “Apple” tumbled from the mouth of host Barbara Walters.
Padding out his answer of “no” when asked if Twitter was sporting a ‘For Sale’ sign, Stone said that: “We’re just getting started, as I’ve said. The company is two years old, we have so much to do, so much product stuff to fix, and so much growing to do.”
Racking up massive growth over the last 12 months, Twitter’s free service is essentially an online instant messaging platform that enables users to dispatch quick notes of up to 140 characters (known as 'Tweets') to friends, family and other Twitter account holders following their communications through the site.
Business and industry interest in Twitter is certainly tangible at this time, and the service’s founders have already rebuffed an acquisition offer of $500 million USD made earlier in the year by social networking giant Facebook.
