A pesky e-mail glitch that hamstrung some of the BlackBerry community yesterday has now been successfully ironed out and normal online service is steadily resuming, according to Canadian smartphone manufacturer Research in Motion (RIM).
Evidently linked to an unspecified network issue, the problem reared up for personal users across North America at around 03:15 on Thursday morning and prevented them using the BlackBerry platform to access their e-mail accounts.
Speaking with CTV.ca about the sudden outage, Ottawa-based Research in Motion later confirmed the abrupt service speedbump, which lasted for several hours, had been “isolated and resolved” and that e-mail access was returning to normal.
However, the smartphone specialist also warned that some BlackBerry owners could still be prone to short access delays whilst backlogged e-mail queues were duly processed.
Corporate BlackBerry users were not affected by the mystery service hiccup.
