While it’s probably impossible to accurately define ‘the perfect woman’, it’s fair to say that car enthusiasts looking for love will likely be bummed to learn that 26-year-old Megan Beal is now officially off the market.

More pointedly, Megan Beal of Wiltshire, UK, became Megan Ashton this week after marrying fiancée Rob and rocking up to the church in a beautiful classic sports car she created herself over several years.

The car in question, which was the perfect encapsulation of ‘something old’ in wedding-day parlance, looked every inch like a classic Porsche 356 but was actually crafted from a beaten and battered VW Beetle worth just 200 GBP.

Young Megan, who’s a serving engineer in the Royal Navy, invested six years of hard graft into the conversion, which culminated in the creation of a low-slung Porsche boasting a white leather interior, mahogany accents and authentic detailing.

The pseudo racer belies the history of its stripped 42-year-old VW chassis thanks to a reconditioned 1776cc engine, a top speed of around 100mph, and a market value of 25,000 GBP.

“It was such a special moment to be able to pull up on my wedding day in it,” enthused Megan following the nuptials at the Sandhurst Military Academy. “When I released the car would be ready in time, it was a real dream come true.”
