Already considered to be ‘down wiv da kidz’ thanks to a presence on YouTube, Twitter and Flickr, the British Monarchy will this week introduce its own dedicated page on social networking service Facebook.
Of course, given obvious security concerns, Facebook users won’t be able to add the Queen as a ‘friend’ (or ‘poke’ her for that matter), but they will be able to ‘like’ the official Monarchy page, receive news feed notifications, and view a wide range of royal images and videos.
The page will also provide its Facebook followers with access to the Court Circular—a recap of the previous day’s engagements—and even special map-based updates regarding royal events and ceremonies.
The UK royal family’s Facebook page has been put together with the assistance of Buckingham Palace, Clarence House, and the Royal Collection.
Since launching early this morning (Nov. 8), the page has already amassed close to 45,000 members.
