If there is one thing Treyarch has mastered, it is the art of whipping the masses into a killing frenzy. After all, who doesn’t like killing zombified Nazis until the early morning hours?
On Tuesday, the latest map pack for Black Ops will start the process over again, thanks to the re-release of four classic Nazi Zombie maps, plus a new map that will send you, Alice, straight to the Moon!
The map pack is called Rezurrection, and it offers Black Ops players something that only a select few were able to afford and obtain at the game’s release - the original World at War maps for Nazi Zombies. Each map a classic, they are responsible for hooking millions on a game that simply never ends.
Nacht der Untöten, Verrückt, Shi No Numa, and Der Riese, are also joined by a new map simply titled Moon, where your killing spree hits zero-gravity. To make matters worse, on Moon the zombies fade in and out of sight, and easily shuffle towards you, not bothered by the map's fluctuating gravity.
“Arm yourself with a space-age arsenal of epic proportions, including the Wave Gun, capable of cooking zombies from the inside out, as well as the Quantum Entanglement Device, which taps into the theories of quantum mechanics to bless (or curse!) your battle against the undead. Along with new equipment and an all-new Perk for thrice the zombie-slaying fun, you'll have the tools you need to turn back the undead tide once and for all,” commented Treyarch’s release notes.
For those who purchased the Hardened or Prestige Editions of Black Ops, you already have the World at War maps, but you are entitled to Moon free of charge. To get it, simply select Xbox LIVE using the LIVE profile originally used to redeem the maps. Just look for a notice reading FREE ZOMBIES LEVEL.
In addition, Hardened or Prestige owners also get the goodies offered to the rest of us, including the Moon Xbox LIVE theme, and soundtrack. Players that haven't purchased the Hardened or Prestige Editions, can get Rezurrection's five maps for 1200 Microsoft Points ($15 USD).
Long ago, my kids hooked me on Nazi Zombies by asking to split screen with them on Nacht der Untöten. I can’t even count the hours we spent bonding while killing the undead. Moreover, once Der Riese was released, I finally got my own LIVE account, and would trade off with the kids in marathon sessions - playing online with others from around the world. Now we get to do it all over again.
Rezurrection is available today on Xbox LIVE, with PC and PS3 releases coming soon. In addition to the map pack, Treyarch also announced Double XP gameplay over Labor Day weekend.
