While the new FinePix Z700 EXR may look like just another point-and-shoot camera (for intents and purposes it is), FujiFilm’s latest compact offering differs insofar as its facial recognition technology extends from humans to animals.
More pointedly, the camera’s Auto Dog/Cat Detection system is described as something of a “world’s first” for detecting up to 10 different dog or cat faces in any one single photo while optimising focus and exposure for the best possible snap of your beloved pooch or mog.
The recognition system even includes an auto-release function that shoots the photo at the exact moment the user’s furry subject is looking directly at the camera. Woof! Or, indeed, meow.
Beyond being the ideal companion for budding four-legged supermodels, the FinePix Z700 EXR also comes with a 12.0 mega-pixel CCD sensor, a 5x optical zoom lens, and a spacious touch-enabled 3.5-inch TFT colour LCD screen (16:9) with both landscape and portrait viewing.
Other contributing features and functions include video capture, memory expansion via SD and SDHC cards, auto ISO from 100 to 3200, five-frame continual shooting, Auto Flash, Red-Eye reduction, Image Stabiliser, Silent Mode, USB 2.0, and MyFinePix Studio for quick online uploads to the likes of Facebook and YouTube.
The camera also comes bundled with a variety of shooting modes including Manual, Auto, Touch & Shoot, Scene Position, Fireworks, Sunset, Portrait Enhancer, Snow, Beach, Flower, Night and, of course, Dog and Cat.
Available in colour choices of red, black, silver or pink, the FujiFilm FinePix Z700 EXR is expected to hit retail before the close of March attached to a price of $280 USD.
