Samsung may be carrying the scars from recent attacks by Apple’s legal hounds, but the South Korean electronics specialist has seemingly not yet lost its taste for battle… or its sense of humor.

Moreover, rather than badmouthing Apple when it comes to the ongoing smartphone and tablet scrap both parties are embroiled in, Samsung has instead released a cheeky commercial poking fun at its main market rival.

The commercial in question, which can be viewed below, shows expectant, white-earbud-wearing tech buyers queuing around the country outside what appear to be generic interpretations of the iconic Apple Store.

In gently mocking Apple and its fanatical consumer base, the ad then focuses on individual consumers and their ‘in the moment’ feelings as they wait to get their hands on whatever lies within the retail outlet.

“I am so amped, I could stand here for three weeks!” exclaims one New York shopper, while another in San Francisco sings, “Nine hours down, and we’re almost in the do-or!”

“I think two people just left [the line],” observes a young woman in Boston, to which the man accompanying her replies, “Why would they be leaving when we’re only nine hours away [from the store opening]?”

Beyond slyly chiding the dedication of Apple fans, the commercial also dares to highlight some of the concerns often experienced and expressed by iPhone owners.

“Uh-oh, blogs are saying the battery looks sketchy,” offers a smartphone-wielding guy perched outside a store in Seattle. “If it looks the same, how will people know I upgraded?” complains another in Chicago.

The mood of the commercial changes radically when queue members begin noticing other people going about their day with a very different smartphone—that just so happens to be the Samsung Galaxy S II.

“Check out the screen, this thing is huge!” exclaims one of the bleating sheep. “It’s magnificent,” murmurs another.

“I could never get a Samsung, I’m creative,” insists one guy trying to avoid the distraction by busily tapping on his laptop (um… MacBook).

“Dude, you’re a barista!” replies his friend. “Speaking of which, a soya no-whip mocha, please.”

The commercial closes with “The Next Big Thing Is Already Here” as a bunch of faux Apple fans bemoan their suddenly “retro” phones while a thoroughly smug Galaxy S II owner hops into a cab and speeds away…
