'Deather' conspiracy theory claims refuted

by Rich Bowden - Aug 14 2009, 06:09

As part of your correspondent's ongoing mission to cover the latest conspiracy theories for The Tech Herald readers, here's a video released by the political site Daily Kos, debunking the latest purported plot by the Obama administration.

The video (see below) features Jonathan Martin from the respected online political journal Politico, taking down far right organisations' accusations that the Obama administration latest health care reforms will result in waves of euthanasia.

The imaginative conspiracy theory, whose supporters are now called "deathers" (as opposed to "birthers," proponents of the bizarre theory that President Obama is not a U.S. citizen and therefore not entitled to be president) has taken hold as the Obama administration is battling to deliver basic health care reforms - one of the signature themes of his presidential campaign.

The "deather" theory has been created out of a marketing campaign by the Club for Growth, which featured a video purporting to show American's will be left to die under the new healthcare system if their health coverage exceeds $22,000.
