Taking its high-definition service into the realms of national distribution for the very first time, EPIX has this week revealed its impressive collection of movies and other HD content will soon be available to more than 14 million consumers across the U.S. via the DISH Network.

Expected to launch on DISH in May, the EPIX platform offers 15,000 Hollywood movies plucked directly from three of the world’s leading motion picture libraries (Paramount, MGM and Lionsgate), along with “cutting-edge” original programming and special comedy and concert events.

“EPIX is an important part of our increased HD channel offering and strong expansion of our movie lineup,” commented Dave Shull, senior vice president of programming for DISH Network. “DISH Network subscribers will now have access to exclusive programming and movie content in HD that can only be found on EPIX.”

Some of the EPIX content due to arrive on DISH includes acclaimed Academy Award-winning releases such as Precious and The Cove along with recent big-screen hits like Star Trek, Paranormal Activity and… cough… G.I. Joe.

Along with its addition to the DISH Network, EPIX has carriage deals with the likes of Verizon FiOS, Cox, Charter, Mediacom and NCTC, which it claims combine to bring its total consumer coverage to more than 30 million homes.

Specific financial details regarding the content deal have not been disclosed by either party.
