We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again: It simply isn’t possible to have too much of a good thing when it comes to the ever expanding ASUS Eee PC portfolio. At least, that’s what we tell ourselves as the Taiwan-based computer manufacturer continues to flood the Netbook market with its ultra-mobile platforms.

Having already rolled out the slender Eee PC 1008HA ‘Seashell’ over the last few days, the prolific Netbook boffins at ASUSTeK (ASUS) are once again angling for consumer cash with the unveiling of the really rather desirable Eee PC 1002HAE.

Of course, when we say “desirable,” we are of course referring to its sleek and sexy aluminium outer casing, which gives the whole computer a much more defined sense of elegance and poise while reducing overall weight to 1.2kg.

Oh, who are we kidding? Mutton. Dressed. As. Lamb. Anyone?

Beyond its attractive façade, the 1002HAE is a fairly standard Netbook entrant that sits immediately beside the 1008HA thanks to its 10-inch LCD display screen (1024 x 600), a 1.6GHz N280 Atom processor, 1GB of memory, and 160GBs of data storage (the Seashell has an additional 10GBs of free online storage).

Other contributing elements squashed into the little computer include built-in Draft-N Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity (no 3G), a modest 1.3 mega pixel Web camera, an estimated four hours of single-charge battery life (meh), and colour flavours of Deep Red, Dark Blue and Metal Grey.

The ASUS Eee PC 1002HAE is presently finding its feet in the Japanese market. ASUS has not yet issued regional availability or prices for the United States or Europe.
