While ASUSTeK Computer Inc. is in very real danger of being accused of over saturation regarding its ever-expanding Eee PC line, that hasn’t stopped the Taiwan-based hardware manufacturer from reportedly squeezing out yet another ultra-portable entrant for prospective consumers to mull over.
Specifically, French fan site ‘Blogeee’ is laying claim to the discovery of the Eee PC 900A, which will apparently arrive sporting the slender body form of the existing 900 model while infused with the improved internal oomph and eco-friendly zest more readily associated with the 901.
That performance and environmental boost is expected to come from the inclusion of Intel’s energy efficient 1.6GHz Atom processor and either an 8GB or 16GB solid state drive (SSD).
Memory will be provided by a full 1GB of RAM, while other features are likely to include an 8.9-inch display screen, operating system choices of Windows XP or Xandros Linux, and also a modest 0.3 mega pixel camera.
Pricing estimates for the Eee PC 900A suggest a ballpark figure starting at around $465 (approx. 299 Euros), which undercuts the original 900 series while boosting its specifications muscle.
ASUSTeK has not yet offered official comment regarding the continuing rush of rumours that are surrounding its bulging Eee PC range.
The sudden appearance of the 900A arrives hot on the heels of yesterday’s apparent uncovering of the 701SD, an Atom-equipped revamp of the original Eee PC 700 series.
And, late last week, an ASUSTeK product roadmap revealed the emergence of the Eee PC Ultimate and Eee PC PRO Fashion, both of which are expected to launch in September as high-end entrants to the company’s popular ultra-portable line.
