While we here at Tech Herald Towers have nothing but respect for genuinely worthy entrants into the Guinness Book of World Records, we are not so readily impressed by those secured with scant effort.

For example, a group of Facebook-loving FrontierVille players have been entered into the record books after posting more than one million comments to a single thread on the world’s most popular social network.

Taking a group of up to 107 users a period of several months to amass, the FFG Pioneers fan page held a thread with 1,001,552 comments as of January 31—which equates to around 9,500 posts per user and smashes the previous record of 529,335 comments.

“My friend Nattie Murphy saw the previous record and suggested I try to break it—it sounded like a great idea for our group to show what we are capable of when we work together,” commented group leader Tracey Hodgson.

“It feels fantastic to have been able to break the world record for our community,” she added regarding her achievement and that of the so-called FFG Pioneers.

Congratulations are in order, we suppose, though we cannot help but think that such records somehow cheapen those attained via attrition, honest skill and inspirational brilliance.
