It would appear the Galaxy Nexus smartphone has found its way into consumer hands despite being delayed while U.S. carrier Verizon Wireless and Android maker Google reportedly work to integrate mobile payment system Google Wallet.
That’s according to a Droid Life report that claims a couple of Nexus handsets were mistakenly sold through a Verizon Store and a Best Buy outlet after the retailers received their shipments ahead of the original December 9 release.
CrowdFlower senior software engineer David Fayram, who apparently scored one such unit from Best Buy, described the Nexus as a “pure Google experience” via a personal Google+ post. “It looks like a cutting-edge phone, without all the ostentation and outrageous materials of the Droid Razr.”
“I can’t even really explain to you how much faster this phone feels than any AT&T phone I’ve ever touched,” he added. “The iPhone 4S’ browsers feels like a dog in comparison when you’re not on the WiFi, and I’m convinced this is nearly all network time now.”
Prospective Nexus buyers will likely be able to get their hands on Samsung’s newest smartphone offering this December 15—that’s tomorrow kids. The handset is likely to cost somewhere in the region of $300 USD.
