If you’ve recently bid a fond farewell to your trusty GameCube ahead of finally making a delayed switch to Wii, we’d suggest you get your gaming skates on.
And why? Because the scaled back Wii unveiled by Nintendo during Gamescom—that would be the one stripped of GameCube software support—is indeed heading to U.S. shores.
Set to arrive on October 23 as part of a $149.99 USD package, the (slightly smaller) Wii console comes with a glossy black chassis, along with a black Wii Remote Plus and Nunchuk controller.
Adding to the hardware’s appeal—or perhaps compensating for the lack of it—the bundle also includes New Super Mario Bros. Wii and the soundtrack of Super Mario Galaxy.
So, if you’ve parted ways with the GameCube but still have a stack of its brilliant games, you may want to snap up the existing Wii bundle, which costs the same, includes backwards compatibility, and comes with Mario Kart Wii.
Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
