Hewlett-Packard (HP) and its week of newly announced hardware continues today with the unveiling of the ProBook 5310m, which is being offered up as a slender and lightweight notebook specifically aimed at the pockets of mobile professionals.
Attached to a thoroughly middle-of-the-road starting price of $699 USD, the magnesium and aluminium ProBook 5310m comes equipped with an energy efficient Intel Celeron SU2300 processor that runs at 1.2GHz and is supported by 1MB of cache.
While those somewhat limited core specifications are perhaps befitting of the accompanying price, a HP spokesperson has said an $899 USD ProBook 5310m comes configured to carry a more capable 2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor – although at the sacrifice of the Celeron’s energy efficiency and budget pricing.
Bolstered by a skinny profile of 0.93 inches (at its thinnest point) and carrying a modest shoulder strain of just 1.72kg, the ProBook 5310m is also equipped with a 13.3-inch display screen, an integrated graphics solution, up to 320GBs of hard drive storage, optional broadband connectivity, a built-in Web camera, and a trio of USB ports.
According to HP, its svelte little business notebook will run on the Windows 7 operating system and will deliver up to six hours of mobile operation on a single charge of its four-cell lithium polymer battery, while an optional six-cell battery will push eight hours.
The HP ProBook 5310m is expected to hit retail on October 22.
