If we can drag your attention away from smartphones and tablet devices for just a moment… computer maker Hewlett-Packard (HP) has just unveiled one of them old notebook thingies. Yeah, we thought they were extinct too.
So, meet the svelte and stylish HP Folio 13, an Ultrabook computer first aired back in September that’s powered by Intel’s Sandy Bridge processing platform and features Rapid Start technology.
Beyond a physical profile of just 18mm and a respectable shoulder weight of 1.5kg, other notable fixtures and fittings aboard HP’s latest include a 13.3-inch BrightView HD display, a backlit keyboard, 128GBs of solid-state storage, and support for USB 3.0 and Ethernet.
The Folio 13 may not have quite the appeal of the MacBook AIR it supposedly competes with, but it will sell for $899 USD, which is a solid $400 USD less than Apple’s slender offering.
HP’s Folio 13 Ultrabook will hit retail outlets in the United States from December 7. No word yet on when it’s likely to arrive in Europe.
