Hey, remember when Netbooks were popular? Image: Hannspree.

Since the arrival of touch-screen tablet computers, we here at The Tech Herald have seen our rampant affection for Web-centric budget laptops dwindle, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t still stylish little Netbook offerings vying for our attention.

Case in point, the boffins over at Hannspree have this week unveiled the new SN10, a slender 1.2kg unit equipped with a 10-inch anti-glare LED backlit display (WSVGA at a resolution of 1024 x 600), and powered by a combination of Intel’s 1.66GHz Atom N450 processor and Microsoft’s Windows 7 Starter operating system.

Available in the UK exclusively through The Carphone Warehouse, the snazzy little SN10 also comes with 1GB of DDR2 memory (667MHz), a spacious 160GB hard drive, built-in Wi-Fi (802.11b/g/n), and a 4-in-1 card reader.

Other contributing aspects include a modest 1.3 mega-pixel webcam, a full-size keyboard, six hours of battery life, a free “ultra chic” black carry bag, and a two-year warranty.

So if you’re looking for a slice of portable computing, but perhaps don’t feel an affinity towards the growing trend of tablet solutions, the Hannspree SN10 can be yours in either glossy red or glossy black for a pocket-pleasing 229 GBP.
