Microsoft has this week announced the selection of downloadable videogame titles chosen to make up 2012’s Xbox Live Arcade House Party; they are Warp, Alan Wake’s American Nightmare, Nexuiz, and I Am Alive.

The party kicks of on Feb. 15 and sees Warp offered up for 800 Microsoft Points, followed soon after by American Nightmare on Feb. 22 for 1200 Microsoft Points, Nexuiz on Feb. 29 for 800 Microsoft Points, and I Am Alive on Mar. 7 for 1200 Microsoft Points.

And, by way of adding extra customer incentive, Redmond will furnish any House Party user with an 800 Microsoft Point rebate should they purchase all four of the above titles between Feb. 15 and Mar. 13—essentially making either Warp or Nexuiz a free download.

Here’s a little background on all the upcoming titles:

Warp: Warp is a puzzle-based stealth action game where gamers play as Zero, a loveable yet lethal, little orange alien with a big score to settle. Abducted by a villainous General from his home world and taken to an underwater research facility, Zero must plan his ultimate escape by relying on his arsenal of special abilities.

Alan Wake’s American Nightmare: In this brand new standalone experience, Alan Wake fights the herald of darkness, the evil Mr. Scratch! A thrilling new storyline, hordes of creepy enemies, serious firepower and beautiful Arizona locations, combined with a fun and challenging new game mode make this a must for Alan Wake veterans, and the perfect jumping on point for new players.

Nexuiz: For centuries the Kavussari and the Forsellians have waged war. They have a fragile truce but due to their seething disgust of each other they still pit their warriors against each other in arenas rather than on the fields of war. Broadcast throughout the galaxy as entertainment, the Nexuiz Competition sees players enter a first-person shooter arena where match rules and the laws of physics can be altered in order to dominate opponent across ever-changing hostile environments.

I Am Alive: One year after a worldwide cataclysmic event has wiped out most of human civilization, a man struggles for survival. Faced with an insecure, decaying, and hazardous world, he scours a desolated city, searching for his long lost wife and daughter. Explore the crumbling ruins of a once-thriving metropolis and discover a changed human condition, punctuated by distrustful survivors, dangerous armed gangs, and victims in need.

Stunning Mars Rover Selfie

This (MAHLI) camera is at the end of the robot’s arm. For a sense of scale the rover’s wheels are about 20 inches diameter and 16 inches wide. Check the annotated image below for more information on the surroundings. Also if you really want to see some detail click this very large image, 36mb, at NASA.

How the Sahara Helps Feed the Amazon (Video)

Sahara to Amazon
This cool video from NASA shows how dust is transferred across the Atlantic to the Amazon rainforest and helps nourish the plants growing there. For the first time scientists have measured the amount of dust and the amount of phosphorus in the dust. The later acts like a fertiliser and helps replenish the phosphorus the rainforest loses each year, around 22,000 tons. Amazing how something we perceive as being desolate like a desert actually has an important role in sustaining somewhere we see as teeming with life. This amazing video shows a laser guided bomb bouncing back up after hitting its target. We actually think this is a non-explosive bomb designed to test guidance systems but it is still pretty remarkable and somewhat scary.
