If living the life of D.C.’s heroic Batman is an unfulfilled dream, chances are you’ll begin frothing uncontrollably when we tell you that a pant-wettingly sexy turbine-powered Batmobile is presently on offer via eBay.
Posted by creator and current owner Casey Putsch of Putsch Racing Design, the road-legal Batmobile was completed in 2011 in a professional racing facility alongside Grand Prix, DTM, Indy and Sports Racing cars and is the only Batmobile replica with a fully functioning turbine engine (witness the roar by clicking on the below video).
“Its construction is in a completely different league than both replicas and of course the movie prop cars,” outlines the eBay listing. “Having a perfect reliability record, this car is ready to be enjoyed by an enthusiast who is looking for the ultimate luxury in one-upmanship,”
In terms of the car’s technical and performance attributes, the 2,800lb beast comes with a 365 horsepower Boeing turboshaft engine, a four speed semi-automatic sequential transmission, fully independent cockpit-adjustable suspension, digital avionics, and even a centrally mounted iPad tablet with 3G connectivity.
Sadly, depending on where you stand with Hollywood’s movie interpretations of the caped crusader, this particular offering isn’t from Christopher Nolan’s acclaimed reboot but rather takes its more traditional design cues from Tim Burton’s horrendously camp Batman universe.
Our obvious preferences aside, there’s no denying the instant appeal of Putsch Racing’s lovingly reconstructed Batmobile, and we’d certainly be keen on bidding in the vain hope of securing it.
However, Chief Ed isn’t willing to entertain our shameless pleading and begging as apparently we don’t have $620,000 USD (the car’s ‘Buy It Now’ price) sitting idly in the petty cash box at the moment. Bah, humbug.
But then, who does? Indeed, bidding for the Batmobile will close in a little over 10 hours and the car has not yet received a single bid.
