Described as “exciting news” by chief executive Paul Otellini, chipmaker Intel Corp. has revealed two more mobile technology partnerships within the smartphone sector.

Intel’s latest deals will see its processing technology utilized within handsets crafted by ZTE and Lava International—and follow on from a similar revelation made on Monday by French telecommunications specialist Orange.

“This is something we’re doing sort of slowly and surely,” enthused Otellini during an announcement at this week’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

In terms of regional spread alongside Intel’s push towards the mobile phone sector, the Lava handsets will be released in India, while the ZTE devices will launch in China, and the Orange smartphones are being aimed at Europe.

Although labeled as a steady process of expansion, this latest round of partnerships comes after Intel used January’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas to confirm both Lenovo and Motorola will soon be carrying its processors.

According to Orange and Intel, Europe’s forthcoming Gigabyte-made smartphone will be powered by a combination of an Atom processor and Google’s Android operating system.
