For some people, hype and hysteria surrounding the release of the latest blockbuster videogame can be a particularly testing time.

In that sense, the release of Modern Warfare 3 was certainly testing for a consumer in Colorado who pre-ordered the game only to find it wasn’t there waiting for him during a midnight launch. Subsequent events probably also tested the nerves of store employees and nearby customers.

According to police in Aurora, 31-year-old Loman Sar was charged on Tuesday after he became irate when a local Best Buy refused to sell him of copy of Infinity Ward’s eagerly awaited military shooter.

Sar, who pre-ordered the game earlier in the day while driving his car, insisted a store employee had assured him a midnight pick up would be no problem despite him not being able write down the necessary invoice number at pre-order.

However, after patiently queuing outside the Best Buy outlet from 11 p.m., Sar became frenzied when his purchase was refused—indicating to the store manager that he had a bomb and would “blow this place up” if Modern Warfare 3 was not forthcoming.

“I wasn’t gonna blow it up or anything like that, no,” said Sar in an Aurora Sentinel report. “It’s just something you say when you’re mad, you know what I mean?”

“But they’re like empty threats,” he added. “You can’t get in trouble for just saying you’re gonna bomb a building.” Evidently you can, not least because Sar (sans Modern Warfare 3) was pulled over by police while driving home.

The attending police officers, who had been called after witnesses claimed the angry gamer had also threatened to shoot store employees, promptly issued Sar with a summons for misdemeanor disorderly conduct.

Sar later purchased Modern Warfare 3 from Walmart.
