A spate of problems connected to battery and performance aboard Jawbone’s UP fitness-monitoring accessory has been met by an extremely magnanimous offer from the gadget’s manufacturer.
More pointedly, Jawbone chief executive Hosain Rahman has announced that anyone experiencing issues with the $99.99 USD wristband device can take advantage of a no-questions-asked returns guarantee.
“While many of you continue to enjoy the UP experience, we know that some of you have experienced issues with your UP band,” he wrote in an official note on the company website.
“Given our commitment to delivering the highest quality products, this is unacceptable and you have our deepest apologies,” he added.
According to Jawbone, anyone encountering problems with their UP fitness wristband need only contact Jawbone directly in order to receive either a replacement device or a full monetary refund.
Users began complaining of spotty reliability soon after purchase, according to Jawbone, which has since pursued a solution and narrowed the problems down to twitchy syncing and two faulty capacitors within the power system.
Production of the UP device has been halted while Jawbone works to completely iron out its kinks. The company has not said how many faulty units have been sold.
